There’s a lot of “content” on the Internet about wine and spirits. Sadly, most of it is either boring, confusing, unbearably pretentious or all three!
DrinkThisTV is just the opposite: always entertaining, easy to follow and totally down-to-earth.
Look, we all know that buying wine can be an overwhelming experience. Whether you shop online, at the supermarket or in your local wine shop, the label overload can be paralyzing.
DrinkThisTV is here to help. Our mission is to answer the central question that vexes wine experts and beginners alike: what wine should I buy and drink today?
We rate on a 100-point scale which has become the industry standard for better or worse.
Our goal is to be your trusted friend recommending new wines for you to discover and enjoy. But just because we’re passionate about wine, doesn’t mean we can’t have fun too! We’re all about sharing our knowledge with you in a spontaneous, fun and slightly wacky way.
So we hope you watch, laugh and learn!
DrinkThisTV will only recommend wines that we taste blind. Sponsors don’t get special treatment. We spend most of our time telling you what’s good, not what sucks.
Amy Christine wears 3 hats in the wine business. She has a very important job as Director of California Sales for Veritas Imports during the day and moonlights, ala Bruce Willis, as a sommelier at A.O.C. restaurant in Los Angeles. She also makes a little Syrah called Hocus Pocus, with her winemaker husband, Peter Hunken, in beautiful Lompoc. (www.blacksheepfinds.com).
She is currently studying for the title of Master of Wine bestowed by the Institute of Masters of Wine based in London because, like Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna, she's always secretly wanted be British. A recovering vegetarian, Amy has recently been sighted devouring lamb burgers, fish tacos and chicken kiev(free range and organic, of course) at some of LA's finest dining establishments.
Eduardo Porto Carreiro was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. By the age of six, he had already found a favorite bottle of wine. It was a Spanish Value Red that came adorned with a delightful little plastic bull hanging around its neck. Not only did the toy make a fond impression, but the wine appealed to his novice palate as well.
In Los Angeles he got down to doing some serious drinking. After a short stint working as a wine clerk at the venerable Greenblatt's Deli and Fine Wine Shop, he moved on to the restaurant industry. Eduardo quickly rose to the level of Wine Director and sommelier of Amy and Neal Fraser's acclaimed GRACE Restaurant in Los Angeles. He also conducts wine lectures and seminars in addition to freelancing as a Wine Consultant for private collectors and other restaurants. And, finally fulfilling a long time desire, he has leveraged his passion and experience to launch his own wine label called Angelica Cellars.
“Why is all of this wine content on line so unbelievably boring?” Bob asked himself not long ago. “It’s just grape juice and everyone is acting like it’s holy water!”
Thus “DrinkThisTV” was created. Bob is a TV producer with hundreds of hours of programming under his belt (yes, that was me, I mean, him filming on stage with U2!). An amateur wine geek, Bob decided to create a show that delivered credible buying advice to consumers. But, get this, he wanted it to be entertaining and have a sense of humor.
Sometime you’ll hear him laughing off-screen or throwing tasting notes at his hosts. See: fun and information…. It’s a recurring theme.
He hopes you enjoy the program and keep coming back for new episodes and different segments touching on every aspect of the wine and spirits world.
